The publication, generously illustrated with many of the emblematic works of the Serralves Collection, reconstructs the history of the Collection and its close articulation with the creation of the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, a process that began more than forty years ago.

The most relevant moments, driven by state and private initiatives, for the formation of the original nucleus of the Collection and the main programmatic axes that have guided the constant updating and expansion of the Serralves Collection from its constitution to the present are analyzed.
