The original hand-drawn design by Álvaro Siza for an exclusive Serralves screenprint has led to a unique product line dedicated to the new Wing of the Serralves Museum, developed in close collaboration with the architect.

Designed by Studio Ayer, the new Serralves Wing product line draws inspiration from the contemporary aesthetics of the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art and the elegance of the new Poente building designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira. It offers a range of modern, minimalist, and sophisticated products for visitors to take a piece of Serralves with them.

“Why does the idea of the triangle surge? Frankly, I do not know why. Afterwards, we can see that the opening at the base and at the top may suggest that there is a different route for each side. A triangle is a space for distrubition, not a space for exhibition.” - Álvaro Siza

The Álvaro Siza Wing is a building seamlessly integrated into the landscape of the Serralves Park, not imposing itself as an architectural gesture but rather expressing natural growth, like a new branch emerging from a tree. This new building will host exhibitions dedicated to the Serralves Collection – permanently but dynamically displayed – and to Architecture, one of Serralves' strategic missions.

Álvaro Siza is one of the most emblematic architects of the 20th century, and one of the names with which Portugal is associated in any part of the world, winner of the Pritzker Prize in 1992. It was in 1991 that Álvaro Siza was invited to design the Museum of Art Contemporary by Serralves, which opened in 1999.

In 2019, he completed the architectural project for the Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira and in 2021 the restoration and adaptation of the Casa de Serralves. Maintaining, until today, a collaborative relationship with the institution and its programming.
