Miguel Palma (Lisbon, 1964), divides his work between sculpture and installation, interrogates the ideas of progress and technological development. The artist's universe alludes to motorsport, aviation and civil and nautical engineering, and is often translated into objects with a polished and industrial appearance: recognizable machines - planes, cars, boats - that perform absurd actions or that contradict any relationship with ideas of effectiveness and progress. Palma adopts an apparently functional aesthetic that combines engineering and amateur inventions, taking that discipline seriously and attributing solemnity to hobbies and small inventions.
