A two-volume publication developed within the scope of the exhibition "The Living Wedge", on display at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art from 15 October 2016 to 15 January 2017.

Edited by Serralves Museum and Kunsthalle Bern and published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, the book was conceived in close collaboration with the artist represented by HIT Studio, in Berlin.

Volume 1, released in Porto on October 28, 2016, includes a preface by the directors of the two locations (Suzanne Cotter and Valérie Knoll) on the concept of the publication and images of all the works exhibited in Porto and Bern.

Volume 2 (released on February 17, 2017, at the opening of the exhibition in Bern) features curatorial introductions by the two curators and an in-depth essay by Manfred Hermes, in addition to the list of works and bio-bibliography.

Michael Krebber (Cologne, Germany, 1954) is one of the most influential contemporary painters of all time. Exploring the continuous exhaustion, withdrawal, involvement and renewal of painting, the artist's practice is deeply embedded in its history and materials, but characterized as much by the affirmation as by the negation of the medium.
