Carlos Bunga (Porto, 1976) Portuguese artist living in Barcelona, renowned for his large-scale installations (using poor materials, namely cardboard and tape), he builds architectural structures that he often destroys in performances or even before the opening of the exposure. Produced over several weeks, his designs are made in dialogue with the surrounding architecture.

In addition to large-scale installations, Bunga's work also includes video, sculptural objects and drawings that reflect on his installations. This publication documents the work done within the scope of the 2012 edition of the Sonae/Serralves Project, where Bunga created a large structure for the Museum's atrium, highlighting the verticality and functionality of the space, in dialogue with the architecture of Álvaro Siza.

Extensively illustrated with projects by the artist presented in other exhibition contexts, the book also includes texts by João Fernandes and Ricardo Nicolau (curators of the exhibition), Adam Budak (curator at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington DC), Marta Jecu (writer and researcher at the Instituto CICANT, Universidade Lusófona, Lisbon) and an interview with the artist conducted by María Inez Rodríguez (curator of the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City).

This catalog was published on the occasion of the exhibition held within the scope of the Sonae/Serralves Project, open from December 7, 2012 to March 3, 2013.
