BES Revelação 2012
This publication documents the journey of young artists whose projects were unanimously selected by the jury of the eighth edition of the BES Revelation Award.
Mariana Caló & Francisco Queimadela take a look at the natural and built heritage in Portugal and its relationship with discoveries and the revelation of the unknown; during the process of collecting the images, they allow themselves to be attracted by new places, encounters and landscapes, expanding the view on the notion of identity culture.
Diana Carvalho uses photography and installation to explore the plastic value inherent in everyday visuality, while expanding the way we see what we are given to see. Although he is also interested in everyday experience, Tiago Casanova questions the perpetuation of memories of that same experience through the modes of documentary recording — in this case, video and photography.
In the work of the artist Joana Escoval, we witness the silent capture of a timeless (almost pre-human) atmosphere through the exploration of natural landscapes and their pictorial qualities.
