Gil J Wolman (Paris, 1929─1995) was a French poet, painter and film director, founding member of Lettrisme and a pioneer in exploring the intersection between text and image in twentieth century art.
This monograph documents the first major exhibition of Wolman’s work held outside France.
It includes essays by João Fernandes, Frédéric Acquaviva (curator of the exhibition) and Kaira M. Cabañas (Lecturer and Director of the MA programme in Modern Art at Columbia University) and is extensively illustrated with images of the works on display and with archive material from the artist’s estate.
