Providing the Portuguese public with a unique opportunity to re-appreciate the work of one of the most prolific and significant Latin American artists, the exhibition and the present publication demonstrate not only the unquestionable place of Mira Schendel's work in art history, but also its contemporaneity and the relevance that it assumes for the new generations of artists, in London, Porto, São Paulo and in many other latitudes.
Extensively illustrated, the catalog includes unpublished essays by Cauê Alves, Tanya Barson, Jorge Guinle, Lisette Lagnado, Taisa Palhares, John Rajchman, Sônia Salzstein and Isobel Whitelegg, interviews with the artist and Haroldo de Campos, biography, bibliography and an illustrated list of all the works on display in Serralves.
This catalog was launched as part of the exhibition curated by Tanya Barson and Taisa Palhares, on display at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art from February 28 to June 24, 2014.
