Angelo de Sousa sculpure reveals itself as a particular exercise in the constrution of drawing oh space. The drawing is not projected or transferred here: it is materialized in the very materials that the artist uses in the creation of each sculpture.

This catalog records and presents a set of 13 scupltures made by author dating for 60/70 years and a unique case of the spatialization of painting in the author's work.

In 1977, the artist responded to Ernesto de Sousa invitation to participate an exposition Alternativa Zero, in Lisbon with the creation of a room where all the walls are covered with painted canvas, involving the viewer in an environment defined by the very nature of the painting that is presented.

Ângelo de Sousa (1938-2011), in addition to being one of the most influential figures in Portuguese art in the second half of the 20th century, is one of the artists best represented in the Serralves Collection, with works made between 1961 and 2002, and that they encompass all the artistic media he has dedicated himself to throughout his prolific career: drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, film and photography.
