Álvaro Siza Design Process
Presented in the form of a logbook, it proposes a reading of Siza's design process and reflective practices, focusing on exploring her own way of working and expressing herself. Combining a schematic text in the form of lecture notes with sketches, records of partial solutions, annotations and technical drawings, the various decisions made throughout the development of the project and also the main moments that elapsed between the idea and its realization are recorded. Along this path, the constant dialogue that Siza maintains with the drawing is highlighted, with the edition illustrated with more than 74 drawings by Siza Vieira, noted during the project. Both for the content and organization and for the didactic way it is presented, its reading is recommended both to students and teachers, researchers and architecture professionals, and to the general public interested in this theme. A feature to be highlighted in this book is its trilingual edition: Portuguese, Japanese and English, which gives it an international dimension. Although the author's mother tongue is Japanese, he chose to use Portuguese in his notes, combining the learning of Portuguese with the work process at Siza's office. The publisher considered that, in addition to these two languages, English would be a complement to this edition.
