Casa Beires (1973-76) was built in the north of Portugal by Álvaro Siza as a family home, its ochre plaster, unusual layout and large windows are indicative of the path that his architectural style took over the coming years. There have been no major works or restoration projects in the meantime, and although the place was surrounded by excess vegetation and had cracks and water damage in many of the interior spaces, one can easily imagine what a large residence it was, and could be again. The filtered sunlight and the rooms with different shapes and sizes give Siza's architecture a human touch.
