Over nearly fifty years, Cildo Meireles (Rio de Janeiro, 1948) produced a body of work that encourages the observer of objects and the spectator of events to an active participation. In a time of growing awareness of the dominant role of economic and ideological circuits, his art has never been more relevant.

The anthological exhibition (1967−2013) was organized in collaboration with the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, and HangarBicocca, Milan.

Large-scale installations and environments are the focal points of the exhibition and of this publication, which, in addition to writings and testimonies by the artist, includes essays by João Fernandes, Sérgio B. Martins and Guilherme Wisnik on some of his favorite themes — territory, value , exchange processes and power relations.

Essays by: João Fernandes, Sérgio B. Martins, Guilherme Wisnik.

This catalog was launched within the scope of the exhibition "Cildo Meireles" at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art from November 2, 2013 to January 26, 2014.
