This publication accompanies the first retrospective exhibition of one of the most important Portuguese photographers today.

With approximately 200 pages, the catalog includes an essay by João Fernandes (exhibition curator), an interview with the artist conducted by Ricardo Nicolau and João Fernandes, a biobibliography and a list of works on display.

This book has more than 150 color images (many of which are in large format) among which 3 projects especially designed for the show in Serralves stand out: Iberia, Book and Top Mais.

It also includes a selection of images from other projects already carried out, as well as video stills of the artist.

Augusto Alves da Silva was born in 1963 in Lisbon. He did a B.A. Hons in Photography at the London College of Printing and completed an M.F.A. in Media Studies at the Slade School of Fine Art, in London, with two scholarships from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He held several solo exhibitions in Portugal and abroad and participated in numerous group exhibitions.
