Cindy Sherman photographs alone in her studio, acts as artistic director, photographer, makeup artist, hairdresser and role-player. The practice of portraiture that she began decades ago is responsible for some of the most striking and influential images in contemporary art. Sherman is also known for the images in which she portrays herself as a model in her own works, embodying the role of female stereotypes established by the media based on a wide range of characters and environments.
