This book, the third axis of the dança não dança programme, proposes two journeys through the 20th century (up to 2010): one through an atlas of images, reproducing hundreds of documents, and another through a collection of essays and conversations. Together, these compile research on different manifestations of dance in Portugal during that period, contributing to outline the archaeologies of what came to be known, in the 1990s, as New Portuguese Dance.

Designed by Ana Baliza, in collaboration with Mariana Veloso, the book features contributions from various artists and researchers, including both reprinted and previously unpublished texts, as well as an extensive selection of documents from multiple sources — public and private archives, many of them personal or from dance organisations across the country.
