"Suores de Mel e a Morte Não Terá Domínio" originates from a dance performance of the same name, created in 2024. Commemorating 50 years of the Portuguese April Revolution through the lens of dance and heterodoxy, it explores rebellion, the other within us, and the artistic phenomenon as a form of revolution against rigidity and inertia, through a Dionysian impulse of dream, movement, and life force.
The book brings together texts by researchers and artists from diverse fields, original photographs, and creative notebooks by dancers, choreographers, and the artistic team—merging philosophy, dance, and political action into a single gesture and publication. Themes such as the Dionysian, transgression, and human insurrection are addressed through the lens of philosophy and dance, invoking thinkers like Nietzsche, Eduardo Lourenço, and Natália Correia, among others.
More than a documentation of the performance, this book is a living extension of its content, offering a profound reflection on insubmission, femininity, and resistance to conformity—today and for the future.
