Agustina Bessa-Luís: Party*A Casa
Regarding the dialogues that are now published, written by Agustina Bessa-Luís under the title A Casa and offered, on September 2, 1981, “to Manoel de Oliveira and Maria Isabel, with a hug” to integrate the film Visit or Memories and Confessions, says the director who doesn't know “anyone who has moved house as many times as Agustina”.
And he confides that “with regard to houses” they are very different: he would be “much more like a cat” and Agustina “much more like a dog”.
If the prodigious creative dialogue in which both engaged in many times seemed, in fact, to a cat and dog fight — collaborations that resulted, perhaps for this very reason, in some of the most notable literary and cinematographic achievements of either one or the other —, here they converge in an idyllic consensus.
Agustina recognizes that this film is one of his favorites, as she confirms that throughout his life he has effectively moved house nineteen times.
