Umbigo #77 highlights the exhibition Mutuality, curated by Chus Martínez, and the cover and Art Project by Vasco Araújo.

Mutuality was the expression found by Chus Martínez to bring together a group of ten artists committed to the issues of reciprocity, inter-species sharing, love and non-binarity. Names such as Belén Rodríguez, Diana Policarpo, Eduardo Navarro, Heather Philipson, Isabel Lewis, Mathilde Rosier, Neha Choksi, Tabita Rezaire, Taloi Havini and Teresa Solar present a series of essays, projects and reflections on a world in need of new forms of relationship and of a mutual construction.

For his part, Vasco Araújo conceives a kind of introspective and meditative mantra in Corpus Conectus: Lexicon of an Existence, in which he proposes a new path for refocusing, for self-recognition and, at the limit, acceptance of the Self. Corpus Conectus is simultaneously a self-determination and the affirmation of an existence, whatever it may be.

This edition also features an article on the Terçolho exhibition by João Maria Gusmão and Pedro Paiva, as a retrospective of the production of this duo in recent years.

Other sections of interest in issue 77 include the Dialogues project, between Ana Romãozinho and the Textile Museum – MUTEX, in Castelo Branco; the project Desenho, Informação Crucial, with the support of the Carmona e Costa Foundation; or the tribute to Julião Sarmento, organized by Umbigo and Pedro Valdez Cardoso. Umbigo is an art, culture, fashion and lifestyle magazine published on paper with quarterly periodicity and online with daily updates. Born in June 2002, it emerged from the need to fill a space in Portugal due to the insistence of magazines related to art and culture. It has gone through several transformations, broadening its theme and becoming more comprehensive.
