"L'Herbier Poétique" is a poetry book by the artist Claudia Isabel Navas, blending botanical illustrations with poems inspired by nature.
The work was presented at the Academy of Fine Arts of the Institut de France on October 9, 2019, during a conference on Alexander von Humboldt's journey through the Americas.
Claudia Isabel Navas studied painting and video/performance at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she received the Leadership Award and a scholarship. She conducted a study on the music and ancestral traditions of rural and mining communities in the Colombian Pacific basin, as part of a project rooted in Chicago's Jazz and Blues culture, funded by the US Endowment for the Humanities, the Illinois Humanities Council, and the Center for Black Music Research, among others. In 2002, she earned a diploma in art history at the École du Louvre and subsequently a diploma in the museology of science at the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in Paris. In 2007, together with artists Andrés Gleixner and Christian McManus, she founded the Liens Artistiques / Enlaces Artistiques association, providing a platform to host artists and creators from the American continent in France and to promote various cultural, artistic, and scientific projects on an international scale. Recently, she launched her own brand, "Cultura Orquídea," a culmination of her professional experiences. Her work has been published by the Bibliothèque de l'Institut de France, Anne Rideau Editions, and the Association Enlaces Artistiques. She is currently completing her thesis on the French Revolution at the University of Köln.
