Manoel de Oliveira’s body of work represents one of the most original chapters in cinema history. Spanning nine decades, from the silent era to the present, his films have garnered universal acclaim, as reflected in the numerous awards from international festivals and academies. Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira and Cinemateca Portuguesa collaborate to publish a catalogue raisonné dedicated to Oliveira’s extensive filmography.

This publication is the most comprehensive work on Oliveira to date, featuring previously unpublished documents from the filmmaker’s archive, housed at Casa do Cinema. It is released in two separate editions (Portuguese and Englisg) and includes specially commissioned essays by António Preto (Director, Casa do Cinema), José Manuel Costa (former Director, Cinemateca Portuguesa), Mathias Lavin (film scholar and writer), and Bruno Roberti (film critic), along with selected critical texts and extensive details on each of Oliveira’s films. A biographical note and a full bibliography is also included.
