Of the many friends Álvaro Siza has in Spain, there is one who shares his passion for horses. As president of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, architect Juan Miguel Hernández León was the first to exhibit the work of his wife, Maria Antónia Siza, outside of Portugal. Together they designed plans for the Prado-Recoletos axis in Madrid and the City of Flamenco in Xerez de la Frontera.
The Spanish architect and professor Juan Miguel Hernández León has been president of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid since 1995. As the professor of Composition at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Madrid, where he graduated in 1974 , he also worked as the director of the same institution and is the author of several books on architecture. In addition to his love of horses, he collaborated with Siza Vieira on the project for the Prado-Recoletos axis in Madrid.
