The Portuguese dictator, António Salazar, fell off his chair and met his death. But it's unclear to this day, half a century later, whether the dictator was even aware that he had been removed from office, or whether he believed the farce that he was still President of the Council. "They ran me out," he allegedly told his housekeeper a few days before his death. Or did he?

There are many other episodes in Salazar's life that are still shrouded in mystery, with contradictory versions or intentional manipulations, heirs to the regime's political secrecy:

Journalists António Caeiro, José Pedro Castanheira and Natal Vaz gathered hundreds of testimonies, found documents that had remained unpublished, and present A Queda de Salazar - O princípio do fim da ditadura (The Fall of Salazar - The beginning of the end of the dictatorship), with many hitherto unknown episodes from the dictator's rule and life.
