Rosana Sousa is a multidisciplinary designer based in Portugal, distinguished by her meticulous attention to detail and holistic approach to both ideation and production. With a deep-seated passion for her craft, she focuses on the thoughtful use of materials and forms, blending traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge elements of modern industry. 

Dedicated to fostering close relationships with local artisans and resources, Rosana’s work embodies a harmonious balance of technicality and elevated artistry. Her bespoke creations are both timeless and forward-thinking, reflecting her commitment to improved and more conscious design practices. Recently, she has been exploring practices related to materials research through a master in Design Through New Materials.

The “Creatives, Designers and Brands” Open Call 2025, promoted by the Serralves Shop, brought together around 200 applications from designers, collectives, artists and brands presenting innovative proposals across fashion, accessories and decorative objects. The initiative prioritised creativity, visual identity and ecological awareness, reflecting the vitality and diversity of contemporary design in Portugal.

The aim of this open call was to contribute to the promotion of Portuguese design by encouraging the creation of original products connected to art, visual culture and sustainability. The winning projects stand out for their originality, innovation, sustainability, commercial potential and strong alignment with the Serralves universe.
