The exhibition "Álvaro Lapa: No time" is the most comprehensive retrospective of the work of this artist (Évora, 1939 — Porto, 2006) ever held.
Held in Serralves, the exhibition brings together works from important museums and institutional and private collections, including collections belonging to artists, architects and writers who also defined the artistic and intellectual landscape in Portugal in the second half of the 20th century.
For the first time, more than 290 works from various periods of Álvaro Lapa's career will be gathered, covering painting, drawing and the rare objects he created, in an exhibition that highlights the artist's extraordinary contribution to contemporary art.
Álvaro Lapa is a self-taught artist and writer, with academic training through philosophy, in which it is as a professor of Aesthetics at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto that from 1976 and for more than two decades he left an indelible mark on generations consecutive artists.
