Vulnicura Strings is the acoustic version of Brjörk's Vulnicura, with strings, voice and viola only. The original version of Vulnicura involved the boom and crack of electronic beats with an intense melody and incredible string arrangements by Börk that were performed live with a fifteen-chair orchestra. Vulnicura's new musical version is all strings, with new violin solos by Una Sveinbjarnadóttir and additional strings played by an organist guitar.
Bjork, used the only viola organist in the world to perform some of the arrangements. An instrument designed by Leonardo da Vinci, built after his life. The instrument uses a friction belt to vibrate individual strings (similar to a violin), with the selected strings pressing keys on the keyboard (similar to an organ). The instrument was engraved and completed in Krakow, Poland, by its builder Slawomir Zubrzycki.
