Ai Weiwei: Entrelaçar / Intertwine, Vol. II
To accompany the exhibition by Ai Weiwei, Serralves published a bilingual edition (Portuguese / English) in two volumes.
The second volume focuses on the presentation of the artist's exhibition in the spaces of the Serralves Foundation.
The book contemplates views of the assembly and installation of the works in the Park and in the Museum's central room, complemented by an unpublished conversation between the artist and the curators Philippe Vergne and Paula Fernandes. It also inlcudes an unpublished poem by Yang Lian, choosed by the artist, among his favorites.
Ai Weiwei (Beijing, 1957) is an artist, thinker and activist whose artistic practice addresses pressing issues of our time. He is one of the leading cultural figures of his generation and an example of free speech in China and internationally.
The exhibition Entrelaçar/Intertwine by Ai Weiwei, on display in Serralves from July 2021 to June 2022, reflects the artist's concern for the environment and the deforestation of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, in particular.
