The Citizens investigation represents a reflection on the underlying consequences of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, and on its subsequent activism to discover the reason for the high number of victims among the school population.
Citizens, is a scarf in which black and white colors predominate. It has a particularly fine texture as it is made from a Chinese twill, well known for its high quality. Hand-screen-printed and finished in hand-rolled edges.
The handkerchief is part of a portfolio called Papercut created by Ai Weiwei and published by Taschen 2019, it is inspired by the colorful pieces of cut-out paper, which are often used to tell stories during holidays and prayers, and as an everyday decoration, a tradition that it has 2000 years of history.
