Most well-known for photographs that feature the artist as her own model playing out media-influenced female stereotypes in a range of personas and environments, Cindy Sherman shoots alone in her studio, serving as director, photographer, make-up artist, hairstylist and subject. Her decades-long performative practice has produced many of contemporary art’s most iconic and influential images.

Featuring reproductions of all works by Sherman on display, this publication will also include contributions by Joanne Heyler, Philippe Vergne, Maria Filomena Molder and Sérgio Mah on powerful questions about identity, gender, representation and the role of images in contemporaneity, together with a reprint of a conversation between the artist and Sofia Coppola.
