In collaboration with Leonilson's Project, Serralves Store developed a line of limited-edition and exclusive products, inspired by his unpublished works of paintings and embroidery.
Leonilson studied art in São Paulo between 1978 and 1981. He was one of the great exponents of a Brazilian art movement that became known as Geração 80, a movement that was marked by the return to figuration, ancient mythology and an intense use of color.
Leonilson’s “Drawn 1975-1993” exhibition, held in Serralves from March to September 2022, is the first major retrospective of the artist’s work in Portugal, bringing together a selection of more than 250 works, in a wide spectrum of media and styles, from first paintings to the introspective embroideries of the artist's later years.
