The collection of Joan Miró consists of 85 works, which are owned by the contemporary art collection of the State, assigned to the Municipality of Porto and deposited in the Serralves Foundation.

The core works goes from 1924 to 1981 and cover paintings, sculptures, collages, designs and tapestries.

The works of the exhibition are aggregated by themes that try to give a holistic view of the artist's route.

Joan Miró (1893-1983), one of the great "creators of forms" of the twentieth century, was simultaneously an aesthetic "killer" who challenged the traditional limits of the means in which he worked.

In his art, the different practices dialogue with each other, crossing the means: the painting communicates with the drawing; Sculpture seduces tissue objects; and collages, always combined conjugations of disparate entities, function as a larger principle or matrix for the exploitation of the depths of the real.
