Member Price
To accompany Ai Weiwei's exhibition, Serralves published a bilingual edition (Portuguese / English) in two volumes.
The first volume focuses on the work process of the works Iron Roots and Pequi Tree, which reflect the artist's interest and concern with environmental issues and the deforestation of the Atlantic Forest.
It includes a selection of essays by Bob Bloomfield, Robert Macfarlane, Günther Vogt, and a text specially commissioned from Professor Jorge Paiva.
Ai Weiwei (Beijing, 1957) is an artist, thinker and activist whose artistic practice addresses pressing issues of our time. He is one of the leading cultural figures of his generation and an example of free speech in China and internationally. The exhibition Entrelaçar/Intertwine by Ai Weiwei, on display in Serralves from July 2021 to June 2022, reflects the artist's concern for the environment and the deforestation of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, in particular.
