The eye mask is the perfect solution for a peaceful rest.

On one face the mask has a black and white image of Louise Bourgeois' eyes. On the other, a design inspired by her drawings.

The elastic reads “solution to insomnia: peace or trust”, taken from the back of one of Bourgeois's insomnia drawings, which was made at night in an effort to find sleep.

The reversible design echoes one of the artist's 2003 fabric designs, and pays tribute to the artist's connection to textiles, sewing and also her love of fashion.

Louise Bourgeois, was one of the most iconic artists in the history of art for much of the 20th and early 21st centuries.

The artist focused mainly on sculpture, creating biomorphic forms and the early use of unconventional materials that allude to a tension between essentially masculine and feminine forms.

The recurring interrogation of the male/female dialectic aligns Bourgeois with the feminist movement.

The geometric shapes had a calming and meditative effect on the artist: their possibilities and repetition had a therapeutic power, just like the reticulated compositions. Having suffered from insomnia all her life, the artist often spent her sleepless hours drawing, working both during the day and at night.
