Ai Weiwei's 'Citizens Investigation' scarf is a true work of art that can be used as a personal accessory, or framed in any noble space to be contemplated.
The Citizens investigation represents a reflection on the underlying consequences of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, and on the artist's subsequent activism to uncover the reason for the high number of victims among the school population.
Citizens, is a scarf in which black and white colors predominate. It has a particularly fine texture as it is made from a Chinese twill, well known for its high quality. Hand-screened and finished with hand-rolled edges.
The scarf is part of a portfolio called Papercut created by Ai Weiwei and published by Taschen 2019. It is inspired by the colorful pieces of paper cut, which are often used to tell stories during holidays and prayers, and as everyday decoration, a tradition that has 2000 years of history.
Ai Weiwei's edition for Taschen 2019.
