A neologism created in the 1970s by a group of young North American artists to designate the group that brought them together, the term anARCHITECTURE, although evoking the idea of anarchy, is not associated with "Anti-architecture" but rather with "an attempt to disseminate ideas about space that are personal perspectives and reactions rather than formal sociopolitical statements” (Gordon Matta-Clark).

This book examines the relationship between art and architecture through the analysis of works by renowned artists who, from the 1960s to the present day, have dedicated a good part of their production to this theme, either with a critical and analytical eye, or exploring its metaphorical, melancholic or even utopian side.

The event was also the reason for an unprecedented conversation between the Museum Directors and the Architect Álvaro Siza about the Serralves Museum, which he designed and which now hosts the first major exhibition of his projects for exhibition spaces.

This conversation is amply documented with photographs specially taken for the occasion by Rita Burmester.
