Films and Videos by Robert Morris
Since the 1960s and 1970s, Robert Morris (Kansas City, USA, 1931) has been one of the great protagonists of the paradigm shift in contemporary artistic languages, promoting improvisation and collaboration between the visual arts and dance, intersecting the minimalist language with procedural art, in works that are presented outside gallery spaces or museums, creating large-scale art projects in the landscape (earthworks). His films and videos are some of the most innovative experiences in the relationship between cinema and the visual and performing arts in the second half of the twentieth century. This book documents Morris’ entire filmography and includes previously unpublished essays by David Duncan (artist and curator) and Chrissie Iles (curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York) and reviews the works by Cara Manes (assistant curator at the Museum of Modern Art, New York).
